To suit or not to suit.

I need some support from you lads I am being got at by my OH. We are going to a posh wedding soon and I am told I need to buy a suit. I have no suit but I do have some nice casual clothes. She wants to cut me hair and beard also We are never likely to meet up with the hosts again so why do I have to buy a suit? Any comments lads?

I don't own a suit either. I went to a wedding recently and just wore a shirt and trousers. Once it gets started most fellows take off their jackets anyway, so who knows whether you started out in a suit or not? As for cutting the hair and beard...not me!

IMHO, we are who we are, and if we are invited anywhere, people know us as we are, so be yourself.

Don't bother, i'm the same ive got a suit which never sees daylight but has come in handy for family funerals.

Clothes, in addition to all their other functions, are also social signals.

I don't have a suit but will wear a traditional-cut jacket on 'formal' occasions. I have found that my purple jeans, if worn with a rainbow belt and comic socks, together with my wardrobe jacket is just the right image for weddings. Once, when meeting a head of state I added a tie and shoes rather than trainers.
It's not for me to say but I think I cut a dash.
