Carrots a success this year!
My carrots are a great success this year. I built a platform 30 inches high and stood tubs and pots on it filled with a mixture of sieved soil, sieved dry chicken manure, old potting compost, sieved garden compost and sand. I added a fist of blood, fish and bone to each container and sowed my carrots. As soon as they came up (I made sure to keep them watered), I thinned them to about 3 inches apart. Result: tubs, buckets and pots full of beautiful, big, clean carrots! No carrot fly or any other ailment. Here's two I just pulled for today's boiled beef:

Very nice Sean. I have also a good crop of Carrots. I have raised beds for Carrots and Parsnips and since using these no root fly. Mind you, the beds are raised quite a bit. I am hoping the Parsnips are just as good. The tops look great.
