I remember reading, over 40 years ago, in John Seymour's "Complete Book of Self-sufficiency" a bit about how, if you left a hen alone, she would wander off into the hedgerows and, if the fox didn't get her, wander back again after a few weeks with a clutch of chickens at her heels. I thought then what an idyllic picture this was he painted. Well today it happened. A hen I had missed for a few weeks, and assumed the worse about, came wandering along the bohareen and into the yard with ten chickens at her heels! You could have knocked me down with a feather!

What a wonderful surprise Sean.
The rain is back to normal then, once started the tap won't turn off but now at least something might grow
