Our Leaders.

In the twelve years that I have lived in Ireland I have met and listened to many intelligent and articulate people. Why do we not have any of these in the Irish parliament?

By and large, the people who gravitate towards political careers are either (1) failed businessmen (or women) who realise the advantages of getting onto a gravy train which is nothing short of scandalous in the remuneration it provides for very little work or (2) little pocket Hitlers who get their kicks in having the power to tell other people what they can and cannot do. The majority of TDs in the Dail are complete morons.

I agree with you sean, although I would carry the thoughts on towards the vast majority of politicians. There will be some who are in for honourable reasons, but I feel that politics and houses of parliament in general are full of self seeking egotistical wannabe's
