Rhubarb stems Empty Rhubarb stems

Post by Deryn Thu Apr 11, 2019 8:44 pm

I have a rhubarb plant that is 4 years old and apart from the first few stalks I pulled the rest have gone really thin. Do I need to split the plant or do I have to do something else to it. Its growing in an old compost heap so should have plenty of food. Any advice welcome.

Hi Deryn. You could try pulling off many of the weedy stems, like pruning. I would do this at the bud stage.
