Willow field. Empty Willow field.

A few years back I planted a few thousand willow trees. I was thinking about fuel at the time but have never done much with the plantation. The trees have grown well and the field needs some attention. I should have restricted the trees to one main shoot but I never did and now the whole field is a dense jungle of small branches. I could just chip the lot and start again but what to do with a few ton of willow chips? Any ideas Lads?

Hmmm... that's a bit of a poser! I suppose you could chip them and use them as a mulch between raised beds or on garden paths - just look at the price of bark which is sold for that purpose! Failing that, I suppose composting is an option.

Yes Sean. Mulching is an option but I would like to use them for fuel if possible. I wonder if I can compress them into bricks some how?
