Home brewed log splitter.

Post by wayland on Sat Dec 16, 2017 9:55 am

I am thinking about building a log splitter. There are a number of inventive ideas on "Youtube" some quite sophisticated. Do you lads swing the axe still or have any ideas please?

I built one once, massive great thing, saw the idea on youtube, but I couldn't find a spring to return the splitter axe up, not sure if I still have photos, I will have a look, I just use a splitting maul now.

I generally try to cut my coppice poles young enough so that they don't need splitting. Any that do, I use a hatchet powered by a froe mallet. Anything bigger, a splitting maul.
